Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a treatment that stimulates the body’s ability to heal itself. PRP therapy is a treatment that can harness and amplify the natural growth factors the body uses to heal different types of tissue.

Platelet Rich Plasma FACTS

  • PRP Therapy is used in a variety of treatments.

  • Used since the 1980’s treating
musculoskeletal conditions such as tendinitis, rotator cuff injuries and soft tissue knee injuries.

  • Treatments for hair growth has also become a growing trend with great success.

  • Also referred to as ‘Vampire Facials’

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Treatments

PRP Therapy Facial

PRP Therapy Facials are medical grade, not just cosmetic. PRP stimulates collagen production. Collagen is like layers of ‘lattice’ of the face. PRP facial helps smooth, tighten and improve skin texture and tone. It can be used for rejuvenation or to repair injured or damaged facial tissue. Most patients notice better skin tone, tightening and increase in volume. For best results, one to two treatments approximately 2 months apart are recommended. Additional maintenance treatments can be performed for certain conditions and to maintain the effects of the treatments.

During Procedure:

The treatment provider applies the plasma on your face then uses microneedling across the
face to help the skin absorb the proteins. The microneedles create a superficial micro
punctures. Both the microneedling and PRP stimulate collagen and are more effective when
combined for treatment.

PRP for Hair Loss

PRP Therapy for Hair Loss is a medical treatment in which the PRP is processed then injected into the scalp. PRP injections are intended to stimulate natural hair growth and maintain it by increasing blood supply to the hair follicle and increasing the thickness or their shaft. Treatments may be combined with other hair loss procedures.

During Procedure:

Anesthetics is applied. After the blood is drawn and processed it is drawn up into a syringe then injected into the areas of the scalp that need increased hair growth. Three treatments are recommended with follow up treatments as needed.

What you should know about PRP procedures

  • Topical anesthetics may be used to minimize pain. If you are allergic to anesthetics, let your provider know.

  • PRP is safe for most everyone except for those with conditions that affect clotting conditions that require blood thinners or other blood related health issues.

  • If you are a heavy smoker you may not see results. Smoking narrows the blood vessels need to carry the nutrients, oxygen and restricts blood flow the treated area.
